Phishin’ in Boulder

Phish’s annual summer Colorado tour stop made a detour from Dick’s in Denver for Boulder and Coach Prime’s turf at the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field. There was a whole lot of scene and internet drama made about the move from the soccer field to the football field but in the end the music was just as good and the fun was just as fun, so who cares. It always a hoot catching out of town Phish shows, whatever the hell “out of town” means for me these days, and seeing and hanging with friends from home in Georgia. New friends, old freends, potential phriends…we’re all in the soup together taking care of our shoes.

The band stopped for a three night run, July 3,4, and 5th but I only made it Friday and Saturday, for the 4th and 5th shows. We were all expecting some typical Phish pageantry for the 4th but instead we were treated with an awesome cover of Zeppelin’s “No Quarter” and it was worth it. I had seats for the night of the 4th and floor seats for the night of the 5th. I stayed in my seats for most of the show on the 5th but made it down for about half of the second set…love the floor when there’s space. The energy, the sound, the smells, I love it and it makes for better pictures. I was down there for the “My Friend, My Friend” and that dark ass weird jam it brought, you know the good stuff that you hope for in a Phish show. Enjoy the pics.

There may not have been a drone show for the 4th but I saw the drones. They were there man. They were there.
