Phish at the Sphere, one year later.
Last year, over the 4/20 “holiday”, Phish played it’s inaugural run at MSG Entertainment’s crown jewel, Las Vegas’ Sphere. U2 played it first but the venue was built for Phish and they really did the honors of breaking the bottle on the hull. We only had tickets for Sunday night 4/21, the final show of the run, but we got into town on early thinking, hoping we might be able to score tickets for that Friday or Saturday. That pipe dream didn’t materialize but it was not without waiting hours outside the venue both days/nights in hopes of a miracle. FOMO was setting in and I almost pulled the trigger on a StubHub for Saturday night before I came to my senses and didn’t spend a mortgage payment on a ticket. Whew!
The venue is everything you’ve heard and read about. There’s not much more I can say about it other than just go see a show there. Any show. Any band that plays there has to put in the effort to make use of the facilities so just go. Hell, the Backstreet Boys are playing there for god’s sake. The graphics are stunning. The audio is pristine. There’s not a bad seat in the house.
Here’s some film pics and iphone videos to show you around.
